Time to time excel has proved its worth for the organisations due to its capability to handle complex tasks in effective and easier manner. So in order to make MBA students well versed with the techniques and functioning of advance excel three weeks workshop on Advance Excel was organised by Department of Management Studies at PIET from 01st May – 21st May, 2020. The workshop was aimed to skill students with the utility of excel in corporate world with the help of industry related practical examples. The workshop was organized by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies and the sessions were conducted on MS Teams (Online Platform). 67 students participated in this workshop with full zeal and enthusiasm.
During this workshop techniques like Mail Merge, Advance Filter, Advance Sorting, Relative Reference and Absolute Reference, D-Function, Sub-Total, Charts, COUNTIF, SUMIF & AVERAGEIF, IF Conditional Function, Conditional Formatting, Data Validation, Pivot Table & Pivot Chart, Series & Macros, V Look Up, Goal Seek, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Quiz and auto certificate generation etc. were some prominent techniques were taught to students with workplace related examples. In addition to these excel techniques students were taught large number of excel short-cuts in order to improve workplace related task efficiency.
At the end of the workshop students realised that good knowledge of excel tools and techniques can help them to perform their work related tasks much efficiently and effectively. Sound knowledge and suitable application of excel tools can make someone star performer at workplace and to ascertain the learning of students from this workshop a test was also conducted. Komal goel, Paras Batra, Rohit Kukreja, Kashish Bhola, Mehak, Stuti Gupta and Preeti scored 100 percent marks in the test, which indicated that students learned Excel tools & techniques with full dedication. Subsequent to qualifying the test students were awarded with E-certificates for completion of workshop. Students’ interaction was also held with respected HoD and students demanded that this type of workshop should be held throughout the year to improve skill set of students and he assured students that more and more such workshops are going to be the part of curriculum delivery.
