Department of Management Studies, PIET conducted a webinar on “CAREER IN BANKING FINANCIAL SEVICES & INSURANCE (BFSI) SECTOR on 12th September’20. This session was organised to provide bird’s view to the student’s career in finance as there has been an exponential growth in Finance industry in the past two decades and a number of expert fields have appeared within the extensive domain of finance.
Mr. Kaushik Saha (Guest Speaker) who is an IIT kharagpur and IIM Calcutta graduate share his decades of experience by providing a clear picture of the industry and its various domains. He discussed about variety of Careers in finance, different teams in BFSI companies, job roles and duties in detail to be performed in Banks, NBFC’S, Insurance and Mutual Funds, Fintech and Product Management, Capital Market etc. He even told students what courses and work experience are required.
Towards the end Mr. Kaushik Saha discussed about the skills needed to get into the various domains of Financial Services. Skills included strong communication skills, sound knowledge of excel, coding skills for product management, trading skills, statistics and overall business understanding.
After the webinar many finance students were clear with their perception about the financial services industry. Over all the webinar was very informative and it helped students to get a glimpse of the industry.
