Techno GearHeads Club, Department of Information Technology has successfully conducted QUIZOPHILE- A Current Affairs Competition on Friday, July 16, 2021. The competition was planned with an aim to check knowledge of students on the topics of Science & Technology. The competition was open for UG/PG students of all the courses at PIET. A total of 96 students registered for the competition. The competition was divided in 3 rounds. Round 1 was an online test. The test consisted of 40 MCQs. Round 2 was live online quiz. Each student was asked 3 questions (10 seconds per question). Round 3 was rapid fire round where each student was asked 2 questions. All participants were very enthusiastic and were very happy to be a part of the competition. The competition was concluded by taking studentsâ feedback and vote of thanks by event coordinators. Nikita (B.Tech IT II Year) stood First position, Lakh (B.Tech ECE III Year) stood Second position. Rashmi, Konika Arora and Prateek were the Runner ups.
Department of Information Technology and TechnoGear Heads club organized a videography competition on 26th June, 2021. Theme of the competition was âFuture with ITâ. Dr. Mukesh Chawla and Dr. Vaishali were judges. The event was conducted online. In this competition students participated by creating a video related to the given theme. The video presented by students included text, images, photos, videos and any combination of these elements. Winners were judged on Clarity of Subject, Relevance and Creativity. Certificates were provided to the winners. Tiya stood 1st Position, Utkarsh Pandey stood 2nd Position and Yashika stood 3rd Position.
IT Techno Gearheads Club organized the online event- LIBERAL ARTS on 14th August, 2020 on the occasion of Independence day even during the COVID-19 crisis. As expected, many creative minds came forward from every department including students from other colleges and universities (K.U., D.U etc). Students put in a lot of efforts and creativity in their poetry and posters and came up with a strong message to convey. The Competitions took place with poetry recitation and poster display in an alternative manner. The winners were awarded with cash prices and online certificates. Ms. Varsha (MBA-2nd Year, PIET) stood 1st position & Ms. Anjali (IT-3rd Year, PIET) stood 2nd position in Poster Making Competition and Ms. Bhavya (MBA-2nd Year, PIET) stood 1st position and Ms. Tripatijeet Kaur (BA Mass Comm.-2nd Year, KU) stood 4th position in Poetry Competition.
IT Departmentâs Techno GearHeads Club organized Talks with Innovators & Entrepreneurs Session in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at PIET, ED Cell and Yantra Club. First session was taken by Mr. Utkarsh Pandey and Mr. Jatin Arora, students of B. Tech. 2nd Year IT Department on 15th April, 2020.
IT Department organized a Mock Interview activity under the Techno GearHeads Club on 4th March, 2020. The activity called for participation of 3rd year students and almost 50 students showed up for the activity.
Department of Information Technology conducted Spoken-Tutorial FOSS online tests for IT Students on 14th November, 2019. Online Tests were conducted on âC++â for 2nd year, âJAVAâ for 3rd Year & 4th Year. A total 81 out of 97 students cleared the test and were certified by Spoken Tutorial, IIT-B. Certificates were online generated for the students who have successfully cleared the test. Mr. Sorabh Gupta acted as the Coordinator for the entire process. Events like this are regular features of teaching learning process at IT Department.
IT Department in collaboration with Training & Placement Cell conducted an âAptitude Contestâ for 1st and 2nd Year on 24th October, 2019. More than 50 Students from BCA, IT, CSE, BBA, Pharmacy participated in this event.

IT department organized IT BONANZA event on 3rd March, 2017 in which all the students of department took part with full enthusiasm and zeal to win it. This program was consisting of 8 different events.
IT Department in collaboration with Training & Placement Cell conducted âMock Placement Driveâ for B.Tech (IT) on 10th Feb. 2017. Event comprises of 1st Round Elimination (Online Test) â 40 MCQs (Aptitude & Subject) within 50 minutes; 2nd Round (Programming) â Coding of 2 programs out of given 3 problems in 1 hour; 3rd Round (Interview- Technical); 4th Round (Interview â HR/PI).
IT Department organized Tech-Diwali Mela on 27th October, 2016. Various cultural events were organized on this occasion. The events organized were Photography, Treasure Hunt, Card-Making, Tech-Ad Mad, Mehandi Competition.
Poster making competition was organized by IT Department on the occasion of Independence Day on 12th August, 2016. In this event the participants were supposed to design and present the poster on Patriotism. Around 25 students from different departments participated in the event.
The students of IT Department organized Teacherâs Day Celebration on 5th September, 2016. The program began with a tribute to Sir Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. All the students managed to perform some cultural activities and thanked their teachers on the day for making Department/Institute a special place.
IT Department successfully conducted IIT-Bombay Spoken Tutorial online test on 7th March, 2016. Online Test was conducted for Programming Languages âC and C++â. A total 19 students cleared the test and were certified by Spoken Tutorial, IIT-B.
IT Department organized âTest your C Skills Competitionâ for the B. Tech. 1st Year (All Branches) Students on 13th April, 2015. The Objective of the test was to assess the C Programming skills and knowledge of participants. More than 70 Students of different branches participated in this Competition. Mr. Pankaj stood first position, Mr. Bharat Bhushan stood 2nd position, Mr. Neha Goyal stood 3rd Position and Mr. Saurabh Dwivedi stood 4th Position.
Department of Information Technology conducted IIT-Bombay Spoken Tutorial online test for 3rd & 4th Year on 23rd September, 2014. Online Tests were conducted on âGIMPâ & âJAVAâ for 3rd Year and âLINUXâ & âPHP and MYSQLâ for 4th Year. Students, who cleared the online test, were able to download their certificates directly from IIT Bombay-Spoken Tutorial website.

The Objective of the test was to assess the Programming skills and knowledge of participants. More than 100 Students of different colleges participated in this Competition. Mr. Komal Soni (HEC, Jagahari) stood first position with cash prize Rs. 11,000/- and Mr. Ankur Malik (DCRUST, Murthal) stood 2nd position with cash prize Rs. 5100/-.

IT Department organized Aptitude Talent Search Competition for the B. Tech. 3rd Year (All Branches) on 28th March, 2014 to make students aware of the importance of aptitude building. Around 80 students participated in this competition. Ms. Samriti of B. Tech. CSE secured first position, Mr. Jaswinder Pal of B. Tech. ME stood 2nd and Ms. Shanu Jain of B. Tech CSE stood third Position.

IT Department organized âAptitude Competition (Talent Search)â for the B. Tech. 3rd (All Branches) Students on 29th November, 2013. The Objective of the test was to assess the aptitude skills and knowledge of participants. More than 80 Students of different streams participated in this Competition.
IT Department organized C programming (Talent Search) Competition for the B. Tech. 1st (All Branches) on 27th November, 2013. Around 100 students participated in this competition.
IT Department organized a âTalent Hunt Program â A Cultural Event. IT students congregated to showcase their talents which included Salad Art, Rangoli Competition, Nail Art, Treasure Hunt, Mehndi Competition, Expresso, Waste Art, Arm Wrestling (Male & Female) etc. The objective behind the same was to provide a platform to showcase their skills and knowledge related to co-curricular and extra-curricular areas. Around 100 students participated in these various competitions. The Prize Distribution ceremony of the event was conducted on 29th October, 2013.
