The Department of Information Technology was established in 2006 with an AICTE approved B. Tech. program in affiliation with the Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Since then the department’s growth is taking strides in its strength and facilities year by year.
The B. Tech. programme in Information Technology focuses on developing technical and managerial excellence in IT domains to meet the ever-growing demand of modern business world. The department provides its graduates with the skills and knowledge for appropriate professional positions and helps them reach leadership positions or pursue higher studies.
The students are motivated to take-up additional courses in emerging areas like machine learning, data science, blockchains, cloud computing and DevOps etc. The students are encouraged to build and deploy applications that provide real-time solutions faced by society.
The real strength of the department is the team of active and devoted faculty members dedicated to educating and guiding students with rapidly changing technological advances. The department imbibes modern and well-operational laboratories with the latest hardware and software and with high-speed internet connectivity.
The students are encouraged and guided to participate in sports and various extracurricular activities to hone and strengthen their life skills.
The four year B. Tech. degree programme in Information Technology (IT) provides its graduates the knowledge and skills required for various professional responsibilities and leadership positions of different IT domains.
The curriculum offered comprises of the courses from humanities and social sciences, mathematics & basic sciences, engineering sciences, professional core, professional electives & open electives from various specializations, projects, and mandatory internships with a total of 160 credits spread over eight semesters.
The four year B.Tech. (Honors) degree programme in Information Technology (IT) provides the students an opportunity to undertake an additional 20 credits from any one area of minor specialization from the emerging technologies like Block-Chain, AR/VR, IOT, AI & ML, AI &DS and Cyber Security evenly distributed from 3rd to 8th semesters.
