GUEST LECTURE ON 19TH APRIL 2020 BY DR. SHALINI KALIA CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER NGASCE NMIMS ON “EFFECTIVE ONLINE TEACHING”

In this technological era, students are able to access information anytime and anyplace that would normally be available only through a traditional classroom. Studies have shown that students learn just as effectively in an online classroom as they do in the traditional classroom. The differences between online and classroom instruction go beyond medium alone. How instructors deliver information, interact with students, and assess learning is much different in a virtual learning environment. Online education is a flexible instructional delivery system that encompasses any kind of learning that takes place via the Internet. Online learning gives educators an opportunity to reach students who may not be able to enroll in a traditional classroom course and supports students who need to work on their own schedule and at their own pace.

In continuation to PIET’s E-learning series an expert talk on “Effective Online Teaching” was organized by Department of Management Studies on Zoom App on 19th April, 2020 for faculty of Department of Management Studies and Faculty of Business Studies of Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET). The lecture was delivered by Dr. Shalini Kalia Chief Academic officer NGASCE NMIMS. Dr. Kalia emphasized on “Begin with the end in mind: What do you want learners to have accomplished at the end of the course? How will they have changed?” She also explained how to choose the tools that provide the best opportunities to learn, practice, and interact with the least amount of technical overhead. The Management Department is thankful to Prof. Suresh Bedi for arranging such a learned resource person.
