The HR Quiz, themed “Unraveling HR Trends through Newspapersâ, organized by the Department of Management Studies at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology, took place on October 31, 2023. The event aimed to test the knowledge of HR management and current industry trends among students.
Participation:
A total of 15 teams, comprising students from both MBA first year and second year, enthusiastically registered for the HR Quiz. These teams demonstrated their commitment to the event and a strong interest in HR management. Out of the initial 15 teams, six teams emerged as finalists and qualified for the final round of the quiz.
Finalist Teams:
The teams were creatively named after key HR functions, aligning with the theme of the quiz:
- Recruitment
- Selection
- Training
- Development
- Compensation
- Promotion
These unique team names served to emphasize the central theme of HR management, reflecting the diverse aspects of this field.
Faculty Coordinators:
The event was skillfully coordinated by two dedicated faculty members from the Department of Management Studies:
- Dr. Suman, Associate Professor, DMS
- Ms. Manju Bala, Assistant Professor, DMS
Their expertise and guidance contributed significantly to the successful execution of the HR Quiz.
Winners:
The HR Quiz witnessed an intense competition, with participants showcasing their knowledge and skills. After three challenging rounds, the following teams emerged as winners:
First Prize: Ms. Shiva and Ms. Pratima from MBA Second Year.
Second Prize: Anshika and Khushboo from MBA First Year.
These winners demonstrated exceptional expertise in HR management and a keen understanding of the latest trends in the field.
Quiz Format:
The HR Quiz consisted of three rounds, each designed to test different aspects of HR management and industry knowledge:
- Round 1: This round featured questions related to Principles of Management, setting the foundation for HR knowledge.
- Round 2: In this round, participants were challenged with questions based on HR news articles from reputed newspapers, including Hindustan Times (Tuesdays, Shine.com column) and Times of India (Wednesdays, Times Ascent column). This segment aimed to assess the students’ ability to stay updated with real-world HR trends.
- Round 3: The final round was focused on questions related to Human Resource Management (HRM), assessing the participants’ grasp of fundamental HR concepts.
The HR Quiz – Unraveling HR Trends through Newspapers, organized by the Department of Management Studies at PIET, proved to be an engaging and informative event. It not only tested the knowledge and skills of the participating students but also encouraged them to stay updated with the latest HR trends through newspaper articles.
The event’s success can be attributed to the enthusiastic participation of students, the dedicated faculty coordinators, and the innovative approach of aligning teams with different HR functions. It provided a platform for students to showcase their HR expertise and learn from their peers.
