The Department of Management Studies, PIET organized an Industrial visit for its students to Haier Appliances India Pvt. Ltd. at DMIC Integrated Industrial Township in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh on 29th and 30th November 2022. Mr. Parikshit Vaid, Mr. Manish Gulyani and Ms. Ridhi Kochar accompanied the students for this visit. It was aimed towards giving a glimpse of the real life manufacturing processes in a state of the art and modern industrial plant, to the students.
The home appliances industry is a competitive and rapidly growing industry, driven by factors such as rising disposable incomes, changing consumer preferences, and advancements in technology. In recent years, there has been a growing demand for smart and energy-efficient appliances, which has prompted companies such as Haier to invest in research and development to stay ahead of the competition.
The current plant is the second for Haier in India and was inaugrated in March, 2019. Mr.Manendra Singh Tomar, Manager, SMART HOME division of Haier and his team gave a well illustrated and detailed presentation on the journey of Haier brand since its birth in China in 1984 and its phenomenal growth since then to become the World’s Number 1 brand in Major Appliances for 10 consecutive years. Haier is a multinational home appliances and consumer electronics company based in Qingdao, China. The company was founded in 1984 and has since expanded its operations to over 100 countries worldwide. Haier’s product range includes refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, televisions, and other home appliances and electronics.
Thereafter, the students were ushered into a showroom area where the company professionals showcased the various products of the company under the SMART HOME banner. The students were shown the unique features of the AI enabled products of the division. Later, the students were given a tour of the plant and witnessed the real time manufacturing of refrigerators. The company officials also explained each stage of the production process in detail to the students.
The industrial visit to Haier provided valuable insights into the production processes, quality control measures, and supply chain management practices of a leading player in the home appliances industry. Participants in the visit observed the use of advanced technologies and automation in the manufacturing process, as well as learnt about the importance of customer service and innovation in the industry. Overall, the visit to Haier provided a valuable learning experience for students.
