The Department of Management Studies at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology organized an industrial visit to Mother Dairy Fruits and Vegetable Pvt. Ltd., Patparganj, New Delhi on 29th November 2022 and 2nd December 2022 for MBA IInd Year students of the batch 2021-23.
Masters of Business Administration (MBA), a postgraduate program is designed to provide a course intended not only for academic teaching in the campuses, but for the sole purpose of having a practical advantage with all the elements of program. The objective of industrial visit to Mother Dairy Fruits and Vegetable Pvt. Ltd., Patparganj, New Delhi was aligned on the same lines to provide learners with a chance to obtain practical knowledge in the manufacturing process of the famous brand called Mother Dairy manufacturing dairy products for the day-to-day household requirements. A total of 40 students went on the visit on 29th November, 2022 accompanied by faculty members Dr. Suman Dahiya & Dr. Mohan Thakral and on 2nd December 2022 about 30 students of MBA III Semester were accompanied by Dr. Saurabh Garg and Dr. Dalbir for the visit. The students were exposed to the different processes involved in the production of the various dairy products in the plant.
Mother Dairy was commissioned by the National Dairy Development Board as a wholly-owned subsidiary (NDDB) in 1974. After a detailed Introduction from the Consumer awareness Executive Mr. Renu Kumar Pillai at the Mother Dairy plant, students were given a brochure, were shown a documentary of Mother Dairy and a video on manufacturing process of mother dairy items. Mr. Pillai also explained the various technicalities of the diversified processes including the enquiries from the students. The executive showed the practical tests in their lab to the students to check the purity of milk. He also laid importance on the standards of hygiene in the various processing units. Further the students were shown the manufacturing unit, the vaults where all the processing takes place. At mother dairy, the processing of milk is done by process automation whereby state of art microprocessor technology is adopted to integrate and completely automate all the functions of milk processing areas to ensure high product quality and safety. The following processes are observed in the manufacturing process at Mother Dairy:-
1. Clarification
2. Standardization
3. Pasteurization
3. Homogenization and thus making it safe for consumption.
At the end, the students were entertained with vanilla flavored milk, chocolate and butterscotch ice-creams and were also offered a token of memory in the form of āA Penā. They received practical learning of the method of production, which is a part of their curriculum. The visit was full of knowledge and practical orientation for the students.
