Student Induction Program-B.Tech. (2024-25)

Each year, the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with IQAC cell PIET organizes a Student Induction Program to facilitate a smooth transition for new students from school to college. The Student Induction Program 2024 began with an inaugural session on August 1, 2024. During this session, Dr. Vinay Khatri, Head of the Department, introduced the Induction Program, objectives, and Key features, providing students with a clear orientation. WhatsApp groups were created for students to facilitate communication.

Objectives of Student Induction Program:

  • Help the students to adapt to the college environment and its academic culture.
  • Introduce students to key academic resources, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop effective study strategies, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Enhance student’s communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Foster a sense of community and belonging among incoming students.

The Student Induction Program, conducted by the department, offers a multifaceted introduction to college life, combining physical activities at the sports ground and RISE Building, creative arts and cultural experiences also at the RISE Building, and mentoring sessions across various seminar halls and classrooms. It includes familiarization with the college’s infrastructure, literary activities in seminar halls, and lectures and workshops by eminent speakers at the APJ Auditorium. The program also features extra-curricular activities, feedback collection, and an SIP test to assess students’ preparedness. This holistic approach ensures students are well-equipped for both academic and personal success.

The Student Induction Program concluded successfully on August 21, 2024, under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Vinay Khatri and Ms. Tamanna Sethi, SIP Coordinator.

The student induction program for B.Tech first-year students has been thoughtfully designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to both academic and extracurricular life at our institute. By engaging students in a range of activities—from physical and creative arts to mentoring and universal human values—the program aims to foster a well-rounded development that extends beyond the classroom.

The sessions on familiarization with the college, department, and branch are pivotal in helping students acclimate to their new environment and academic expectations. The diverse range of literary activities, lectures, and workshops conducted by eminent personalities ensures that students gain valuable insights and inspiration, setting a strong foundation for their academic journey.

The incorporation of extra-curricular activities encourages students to explore their interests and develop essential life skills. Furthermore, the feedback and report mechanisms are crucial for assessing the effectiveness of the program and identifying areas for improvement.

The SIP test provides a practical assessment of the knowledge and skills acquired, reinforcing the program’s objectives and ensuring that students are well-prepared for their studies. Overall, this induction program is an essential step in nurturing confident, knowledgeable, and engaged students ready to embark on their B.Tech journey.
