We feel pleasure in announcing that under the modern STEM academic disciplines, a new curriculum aimed at workforce development, Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology, Samalkha, Panipat, Haryana has been selected among 49 colleges from all over India for the grant of about Rupee 11.6 Million (1 Crore 16 Lac) for the AICTE-IDEA (IDEA

Development, Evaluation & Application) Lab . The institutes are selected on the basis of infrastructure and Industrial collaborations. Students & Staff of Schools, Polytechnics and Engineering Institutes of adjoining areas (Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Leh & Ladakh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Delhi NCR Area & State of Uttrakhand) can visit PIET to get training for the 21st Century Engineering Skills development, Idea Generation, Innovations and Startups, Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Business skills. AICTE granted Rupees 5.5 million (about 55 Lac) with PIET contributing about INR 6.1 Million (61 Lacs) to implement the project.

AICTE-IDEA Lab scheme was launched by AICTE on January 1, 2021 to establish infrastructure supporting new age learning, in the institutions falling under its flagship. This lab is aimed at encouraging students in application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fundamentals on IDEA s- towards enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing and even product visualization.

As a common facility embedded in the institution, the IDEA Lab will make engineering graduates more imaginative and creative, besides getting basic training in the 21st century skills like- critical thinking, problem-solving, research, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning etc. The IDEA lab aims at developing critical thinking & complex problem solving abilities among the students of the institute. The lab will also provide support to schools, polytechnic colleges and engineering colleges in the vicinity. Head of the institute as chief mentor, faculty coordinators and student ambassadors will be responsible for overall implementation of the project. Trainings, boot camps, internships and professional training programs will be organized throughout the year for faculty and students. IDEA Lab would also serve as an empowering infrastructure for faculty to delve into multidisciplinary education and research, emphasized in the National Education Policy 2020.

AICTE IDEA LAB Faculty Development Program

Prof. (Dr.) Anju Bhandari Gandhi, Coordinator-PIET AICTE LAB and Dr Sunil Dhull, Co-coordinator- PIET AICTE LAB represented PIET in a Faculty Development Program (Face to Face) under AICTE Training & Learning (ATAL) Academy during 23rd August to 27th August, 2021 at AKGEC FAB LAB, Ghaziabad. IDEA Labs Coordinators and Co-Coordinators from across the country from thirteen different States West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, etc participated in this highly informative FDP. Prof. M. P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE, Prof Rajiv Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE, Dr. Mamta Rani, Dr. Neeraj Saxena, Advisor, AICTE and Members of National Steering Committee of IDEA Lab, young successful entrepreneurs interacted with participants and share their valuable suggestions to make this Government of India’s dream project- AICTE IDEA Lab (the establishment of IDEA Lab -Idea development, Evaluation & Application) successful.

Achievements of AICTE IDEA Lab, PIET

Honorable Prime minister of India Sh. Narender Modi ji inaugurated Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam-2023 held at Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on the 3rd anniversary of the launch of the NEP-2020 mega National Exhibition on 29th – 30th July 2023.  AICTE IDEA Lab, Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology, Samalkha, Panipat, Haryana represented on the behalf of all 104 AICTE IDEA Labs across the country. Honorable Prime Minister Sir stated the NEP aims at making India a hub of research and innovation and has given equal importance to traditional knowledge systems and futuristic technology.

The event was very well hosted by Respected Union Education Minister for education and skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji and his entire team of Ministries. The Honorable Education Minister of India appreciated the initiatives taken by AICTE. He happily stated that IDEA Lab is helping in effectively implementing the NEP 2020 in the country. The AICTE appreciated various initiatives taken by AICTE IDEA LAB, PIET. They appreciated the active participation of AICTE IDEA LAB, PIET in this Mega event and representing AICTE in this mega event in front of Honorable Prime Minister.

In this 2-days exhibition we demonstrated various Technologies and innovative working projects made at AICTE IDEA LAB justifying the implementation of National Education Policy. The team AICTE IDEA Lab PIET presented the memento made at Lab to the esteemed the Prof. T G Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE. The memento represents how NEP is implemented via number of initiatives taken by Government of India like IDEA Lab, Institute Innovation Council, Smart India Hackthon, Toycathon, Digital Mission etc. We had an excellent opportunity to meet Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman NBA and ex-chairman- AICTE, Senior officials, Advisors, Directors of AICTE in the event. Number of students, faculty, principals, parents, industry persons enlightened with the extraordinary facilities of Lab and institute.

PIET represented AICTE IDEA Lab at engaging stall at the exhibition organised at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi by India Didactics Association. It was great initiatives and activities that are driving the future of technical education. 18th -20th Sept. 20, 2024.
