Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell

Overview

The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET), Samalkha is dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages innovation and creativity among students and faculty. Recognizing the importance of intellectual property in academia and industry, the IPR Cell aims to educate and support the PIET community in understanding and managing intellectual property effectively.

Objectives

  • Awareness and Education: Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions to educate students and faculty about various aspects of IPR, including patents, copyrights, designs, etc.
  • Research Support: Assist researchers and innovators in identifying patentable ideas and guiding them through filing process for patents and other forms of intellectual property protection.
  • Collaboration: Facilitate collaborations between academic institutions, industries, and legal experts to promote research and development activities that leverage intellectual property.
  • Policy Development: Develop institutional policies related to IPR to ensure proper handling and protection of intellectual property created at PIET and/ or associated with PIET.

IPR Activities

World IP Day April 2024

On World Intellectual Property Day 2024, IPR Cell and Startup Cell, PIET organized an IPR Awareness Session for students and faculty members on April 26, 2024, in theĀ Auditorium, Third Floor, D-Block. The resource person Mrs. Pooja Kumar, NIPAM Facilitator and Founder & Director, Innove Intellect LLP successfully enriched the understanding of Intellectual Property Rights. The interactive session with 223 participants including 17 faculty members and 206 students not only enlightened the various aspects of IPRs, especially patents, copyrights, trademarks, and geographical indicators but also sparked the enthusiasm of participants for giving protection to their innovative ideas and work. The active participation and insightful questions broadened the understanding and showcased the deep interest of students and faculty members in IPRs which encouraged the IPR Cell to organize more such sessions and workshops/ training programs in the future. NIPAM, the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission, provided certificates to all participants and faculty coordinators viz. Dr. Parveen Kumar Goyal, OIC, IPR Cell, and Mr. Vivek Thahiya, Department of Civil Engineering, PIET, Samalkha.

IPR Awareness Session April 2024

An IPR Awareness Session was organized by IPR Cell, PIET on April 11, 2024, in E-Block, Ground Floor, Seminar Hall. The resource person Mr. Harish Vats, Director, of Vats IPR Services, successfully delivered the expert session to 142 participants (134 students and 8 faculty members) and enlightened the understanding of fundamental concepts of Intellectual Property Rights. In this session, Mr. Harish Vats emphasized the basics of IPRs, especially Patents, Copyrights, and Designs. The active participation, as the mirror of long discussions and question rounds with students, showcased that the participants benefited and learned to protect their class/ project work via intellectual property protection. The session was coordinated by Dr. Parveen Kumar Goyal, OIC, IPR Cell, PIET, Samalkha.

World IP Day April 2023

On the occasion of World IP Day – 2023) on the 26th of April 2023, a one-day workshop on “Women and IP – Accelerating Innovation and Creativity” in association with MSME (DFO) Karnal was organized in E Block Seminar Hall (Ground Floor). This workshop, coordinated by Dr. B K Verma (CSE-ET) and Deepak Singla (CSE-ET), benefited 104 students via insightful sessions on ā€˜Understanding IPR for startup and legal requirements for IPRā€™; ā€˜Basics of IPR, Patent Search, Strategies, and Techniquesā€™; and MSME- Schemes and Startup India.

IPR Awareness Session November 2022

Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Emerging Technologies: AIML, AIDS, Cyber Security) in collaboration with ACM Chapter, IEEE Student Chapter, and AICTE IDEA LAB, PIET, Samalkha, Haryana organized one day workshop on IPR-Awareness and Patent Filing Process on Nov. 30, 2022 at Block G-Ground floor, ET Lab. As theĀ institute has introduced three emerging courses and to run these courses successfully, there is a need to train faculty members about the process of filing patents so that they can disseminate best practices to convert their ideas into intellectual property. This initiative driven by Management, theĀ Director, Dean, andĀ Head of the departments shall play a significant role for PIET Fraternity in theĀ future. The insightful session conducted by resource person Dr. Pooja Kumar (a women Entrepreneur and Founder & Director of Innove Intellects LLP) on ā€œIPR Awareness and Patent Filing Processā€ enlightened participants and hopefully helped in transforming their ideas into intellectual property. The event was coordinated by Dr. BK Verma, and Dr Alankrita Aggarwal as faculty coordinator
