Yoga and Spirituality Session

Introduction:

The Yoga and Spirituality session organized by the Department of Management Studies at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technologyon August 22, 2023, provided an insightful experience for the participants. Led by the dynamic duo of Dr. Suman Dahiya and Dr. Preeti, the session aimed to introduce students to the benefits of yoga and its connection to spirituality. Dr. Preeti initiated the event by welcoming the attendees and introducing the main resource person, Dr. Suman Dahiya.

Resource Person:

Dr. Suman Dahiya, an Associate Professor from the Department of Management Studies, showcased her expertise as a yoga practitioner and enthusiast. Her profound knowledge of both management studies and yoga made her an ideal leader for this session.

Session Overview:

Dr. Suman Dahiya commenced the session by leading the participants through a thorough warm-up routine. This was crucial to prepare the students both physically and mentally for the yoga practices that followed. The session showcased a blend of various yogasanas and pranayama techniques that aimed to promote physical well-being, mental clarity, and spiritual growth.

Yogasanas and Techniques Demonstrated:

Throughout the session, Dr. Suman guided the participants through a series of yogasanas and pranayama techniques. The yogasanas included:

  1. Pashchimotanasana (Seated Forward Bend)
  2. Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)
  3. Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
  4. Konasana (Angle Pose)
  5. Ardhmatsayendrasana (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose)
  6. Kandharasana (Shoulder Pose)
  7. Gomukhasana (Cow Face Pose)
  8. Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand)
  9. Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose)
  10. Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation)
  11. Pranayama (Breathing Exercises)

Each posture was meticulously demonstrated and explained, ensuring that participants understood the benefits and proper alignment of each asana.

Participant Engagement:

The session attracted a participation of 80 first-year MBA students, who eagerly embraced the opportunity to learn about yoga and spirituality. Faculty members also joined the event, contributing to a diverse and engaged audience.

The session concluded with Dr. Dalbir, an Associate Professor from the Department of Management Studies, felicitating Dr. Suman for her outstanding presentation and contribution to the event. This gesture acknowledged Dr. Suman’s valuable role in enlightening the students about the benefits of incorporating yoga and spirituality into their lives.
